The individual ingredients in What the Doctor Takes are not new or exceptional. What is exceptional is the unique combination of ingredients formulated to exceed RDA recommendations. The substances in this vitamin have been known and studied for years. As numerous studies and medical opinions suggested various ingredients to be particularly protective against disease, the doctor started taking them for his own health and that of his family. When his patients would ask, "What do YOU take, Doc?" he recommended those supplements. However, with so many worthy substances, he and his patients would have to literally buy bottles and bottles of different supplements and take handfuls of pills at a time. When he looked at the available vitamin supplements with multiple ingredients, he could not find any with the right ratios. Furthermore, most preparations used partially hydrogenated oils that could raise cholesterol, so he used garlic oil that would actually lower it. He put it all together in a gelcap that he recommends taking twice a day.
