Before submitting your application, be sure you can comply with the four provisions below.

  1. Spend funds only for the purposes outlined in your application. In the event that funds can not be used for the specified purpose, recipients must notify the Rainforest Alliance in writing. The Alliance may ask the recipient to complete another application.

  2. One year or less after receiving the grant, submit a report on your project to help the Rainforest Alliance understand how the funds were used.

  3. Whenever possible, provide photos or any printed material related to the organization and the project supported by the Catalyst Grant.

  4. All Catalyst Grant recipients in Mexico and Central America must complete a questionnaire so we may include their project in the Eco-Index, an electronic, bilingual almanac of conservation initiatives. If your application is approved, we will send you a short letter of agreement to sign. Once you sign and return the agreement, we will transfer the funds to you. You will need to provide us with the necessary information so we can transfer funds into your bank account, or let us know the best way to send the funds to you.


The Catalyst Grants program is supported by donations from the Atkinson Foundation, the Roxiticus Foundation, the Cottonwood Foundation and the Earth Love Fund. We will need your help to demonstrate to these and other funders that this is a worthwhile program!
