Any of the following steps could take you as little as one minute each to complete, and they will all make a big difference in the strength of our message. If you are able, spend a little extra time writing some comments of your own to send out to the various people below. If not, use our ready-made letters, and make a big difference in under 10 minutes! "

FTC close to Endorse profiling agreement.
Posted by dale on Wednesday, July 26 @ 01:11:31 PDT (readed: 4 times - hits: 2)
    Microsoft Profiler writes "
The FTC is close to endorsing a proposal by 90% of internet advertisment providers. The providers have agreed to the following provisions.
Surfers would get notice permitting them to opt out of data collection on their movement around the Web, even anonymously. If companies wanted to link up information they had gathered on individuals in the past to current surfing data they would have to get the affirmative permission of the Web surfer. In the future, Web surfers would be able to decide against permitting their names to be linked to other profiling information in order to identify them by name.
The Full story can be found here."
