My Explorer was bought in '91 by my parents.
My mother used it all the way through '95 without me even touching it.
After I got my permit to drive I decided that I wanted the Explorer (how
convenient) and ever since then I’ve gone crazy fixing it up.
I ran 31x10.5's for a long time and they
were great tires but I hated how I couldn’t go a lot of places because
of the low ground clearance. I had a wreck in March of '98 (3 weeks
after my 16th b-day, it wasn’t my fault) and they wrecked the whole front
suspension. After I saw the price of the discontinued factory rims
I decided that I wanted to keep them. So that is why I chose to use
the 33x10.5's, they are awesome performers off and on-road. The 3"
Trailmaster body lift provides the room and some say that you can even
fit 35’s without bumper modifications, not sure about that one.
The best thing about the ride besides taking
all of my football buddies around, is the glass packs. The puppies are
loud and can easily be heard from a distance. Hemie, at Shademaker in Bentonville,
AR installed all of the electronic hardware, including the keyless start.
It sounds good with the glass packs and really turns heads whenever it
starts and nobody is in the car.
