Violations of Human rights perpetrated  against the innocent people
of Kashmir have been documented  very extensively .  Last decade
has witnessed a complete devastation of the whole society, their
esteem, livelihood, freedom of speech and security of life with no
hope for a future.  All the graveyards have been filled to capacity
with over 50,000 people killed. Last year alone ( Oct. 96 -97)
 civilians killed have been counted to 2,855.  The custodial deaths
during this time are 397 and the home s razed to ground by the
Indian army are 597. 

                       Violence against women takes the form of
                       beatings , pulling hair, ripping clothes off and to
                       denude them in front of their relatives  Women
                       have become targets for army forays and
                       mordant attacks . Women, weak by nature, are
                       easy to apprehend.  They get killed and an
                       easy prey for rape and assault. Many
                       thousands of women are either buried or
                       surviving as living corpses. 

                       Inspite of international condemnation this
                       atrocity does not stop.  Even today, night of
                       Nov 4/5 1997, 20 innocent women were gang
                       raped in the Qunel village of Qaziabad
                       Kupwara Kashmir by the Indian army.  It is
                        obvious Indians behave like an occupation
                       force, have no respect for the local community
                       and embark on a  premeditated  ruse of
                        humiliation .
