The Environmental Technology Team (ETT)
of the Directorate of Environmental Management and Planning (DEMP) has command
responsibility for pursuing the requirements of Public Law 102-484 for ozone
depleting chemical (ODC) elimination and of Executive Order 12856 for
implementing pollution prevention (P2) actions in weapon systems. The Deputy
to the Commanding General designated the ETT team leader as the AMCOM Approved
Technical Representative (ATR) for the ODC elimination program. The Commanding
General has approved an AMCOM Action Plan establishing a protocol and the
team leader as responsible for implementing P2 activities per Executive Order
12856. The activities for these two responsibilities include review of contract
requirements packages and ECPs for ODC cites, documentation of ODC citations,
generation of contract tailoring language, and identification of alternate
materials and processes. ETT is also responsible for review of AMCOM-owned
DODISS documents, TDPLs, drawings, and technical documents such as DMWRs,
MWOs, TMs, MISs, etc., for identification of hazardous material usage, and
the revision of these documents with alternate materials and processes.

From a field perspective,
ETT can assist operational units, depot activities, and staff agencies in
the clarification of environmental regulations and guidance. The technical
staff of the ETT is available, through the hotline, to answer material and
process specific questions relative to maintenance or overhaul actions of
any Army aircraft or missile system. Information is available about new materials
that have been approved for use. Units in different locations are subject
to different environmental restrictions. The ETT can assist in tailoring
a useable product list for your location. Have a question about chemical
compatibility or toxicity? The ETT hotline can assist in maintaining the
readiness of your equipment and the personal health and safety of your troops.
We maintain constant coordination with the aviation and missile engineering
directorates and the safety office of AMCOM. The ETT staff of engineers and
environmental scientists forms a unique collection of knowledge and talent
focused on Army environmental issues. Use this valuable resource to work
smarter and safer while meeting the ever-increasing environmental restrictions
that impact your mission. |
